This page doesn’t feature pictures and stories of bikini babes, luxury yachts or Lamborghinis, as is common when anyone is selling a course about learning to trade. I'm just a regular person who didn't want to work for someone else forever, wanted more freedom and found a way to do it!
Trading is both my hobby and my passion – and fortunately it makes money, unlike my other hobbies! It suits my analytical nature, and who doesn’t like the idea of making money from a few mouse clicks?
My trading journey began in 2004 learning from a DVD course about selling Covered Calls as “insurance” and quickly moving to a more advanced options trading course, primarily in the Australian market as I was living in New Zealand at the time. I remember watching the training DVDs on my laptop at 3am in the morning while holding my new born son! It didn’t take me long to double my capital, but in retrospect, I was taking excessive risk.
I spent a couple of years day trading the US Futures markets, waking up at 3am and trading until 8am New Zealand time! During this period, I extensively researched trading systems design, programming and optimisation, based on TradeStation’s EasyLanguage scripting language.
Ultimately, I found I did not have the knack or patience for day trading and it was mostly a losing proposition, but the learnings and knowledge I collected during that time has been immensely useful.
And then back to options, which is largely what I have been focused on since 2012, using MultiChart’s PowerLanguage. The founders of MultiCharts saw the future and launched TradingView, which I fully switched to in 2020.
In 2021, I decided to productise my system as the 45 Minute Trader System that you now see, as it met my goals of my “ideal trading system”. I have always enjoyed teaching and the ability to help people achieve an improved level of financial independence is personally satisfying.
Trading is often NOT more indicators, lines and abstract math. It is about making a system as simple as possibly can that you can execute flawlessly, with the right amount of risk management. It almost seemed like poetic justice that I started my own trading journey with an options trading course and now I am releasing my own course. Maybe you will be writing your story next!
While trading on the side, I built a corporate career in advertising agencies and most recently spent 10 years with one of the most recognised brands in the world, leading a global team from Singapore, where I live. These career opportunities have allowed me to expand my trading capital and not stress about making money only from trading. I highly recommend this approach – keep your day job, and trade on the side until such time “you are ready.”
The markets will continue to exist as long as there are humans who will disagree on the value of something. I think that will be a very long time indeed.
